Frecclesham at the Stafford Show

We chose to drive up through the scenic Marches, stopping at Craven Arms for lunch, then cutting across to Stafford.

The building is a little basic – no carpeted floors – but we were given plenty of space behind the layout. The clear shadows you can see gave us a problem with lighting the layout. In the two pics you can see the dark shadow cast towards the front. We may need to consider a filter material above.

Mr Chairman reached the ripe old age of 75 on the Sunday and was presented with a card, had Happy Birthday and Penblwydd Hapus sung, and then we all celebrated in the usual manner. N.B. the bottle was full at the start of the show.

A good day out was had with the chairman’s layout.

The proud creator at the controls.

We hope the passengers know where they are.
Rod and Dave having a fiddle.
Thunder came in like lightning to replace a Sentinel that had run out of juice.
Was the background inspired by Pontnewynydd?
Brake lights to be added once a BR loco takes over.

The well-travelled Cold Tea crate, with its latest destination, Weston 1/24, just added

Leading to the traditional post-exhibition toast.

Christmas Party / Running Track session

Here is a selection of what ran on the main test track. The MR 0-4-4 T has been seen before but now had a chance at an extensive run which it did really well. Also stretching its legs was the streamlined railcar, a relatively new purchase.

Below we see American stock from MikeE and a Heljan Mogul that has been in a box for quite a long time.

The evening ended with our traditional imbibing of cold tea.
