The club was formed in the early 1960s and met at Newport YMCA. By the end of the decade it had established itself in large clubrooms in Lyne Road which accommodated Much Bickering (OO Finescale), a large unnamed Universal OO layout and a small end-to-end OO layout Garndyrus Top. After a periods at Beechwood House in Beechwood Park and Belle Vue Pavilion in Belle Vue Park the club now meets at the Shaftesbury Community Centre in Evans Street.
